Abstract
Background: The serum Lp(a) concentration is showed geographical, but studies focusing on reference intervals of serum Lp(a) are lacking in Korean. This study is conducted to provide the distribution of Lp(a) level and the association with other cardiovascular risk factor in healthy Korean.

Methods: The study population consisted of 65,720 Korean adults (39,613 men and 26,107 women), between 20 and 69 years of age. Serum concentration of Lp(a) are analyzed by immunoturbidimetric assay.

Results: The mean concentration of Lp(a) is 21.88 mg/dL and 25.13 mg/dL in men and women, respectively. The mean concentration of Lp(a) are higher in women compared men and tended to increased with age in both gender. The proportion of high risk group (> 30.01 mg/dL Lp(a)) is 21.9% and 27.1% in men and women, respectively. The serum concentration of Lp(a) is associated with TC, LDL-C, Apo B, and Apo B/AI, but is not so with TG, HDL-C and apo AI.
Conclusion: The serum Lp(a) level and proportion of risk group in cardiovascular disease are difference with other country population. For the prevention of cardiovascular disease, it is vital to control of serum Lp(a).
